In early August, Nissan proudly reported that the car maker had agreed to be the only automotive partner of the Red Bull Flugtag Nashville, which is going to be held at Nashville's Riverfront Park on Saturday, September 23, and is expected to draw 80,000 people to the Cumberland River.
A group of 15 Nissan employees from the company's nearby Smyrna plant is participating in the event, with five members getting to "fly" off the 110-foot-long, 24-foot-high ramp. The Nissan employees are spending nights and weekends to engineer their "Take On Flight"-themed entry, using their skills (and access to software) to ensure that their flying machine adheres to Red Bull Flugtag limits regarding vehicle weight and wingspan.
In a press release, Jeremy Tucker, Nissan's vice president, Marketing Communications and Media, commented, "Nissan is proud to be partnering with Red Bull and hosting this celebration of engineering and ingenuity in our hometown of Nashville. With our North American headquarters nearby, Nissan Stadium as a backdrop, and a team of employees creating its own Flugtag from the nearby Smyrna Assembly plant, Nissan had to be a part of the fun."
